This course introduces persons to solar powered electricity (photovoltaics – how light creates electricity). Upon completion of training students are eligible to take the NABCEP Entry Level Exam (NABCEP) which certifies their understanding of the entry level learning objectives. This course is required in order to become a NABCEP Certified Installer after the proper credentials are obtained through additional field experience and advanced training.

This training will be taught by Jim Dunlop (Jimdunlopsolar.com) and Ruth Page-Nelson of Smart North America, Inc.  Jim Dunlop is the Author of the leading textbook in the Solar Industry which was written for the Joint Apprentice and Training Commission ( the largest national training organization for the trades/labor union).  He is a 22+ year veteran and founding researcher/tester/training program developer  of the Florida Solar Energy Center’s testing and training program(s) as well as an internationally recognized expert in the Solar industry. Ruth Page-Nelson, is a solar installer and Dept. of Energy Solar Training Network instructor.  She is a NABCEP Entry Level Instructor and a licensed Master Electrician who has worked as a contractor in Georgia and the Southeast  for over 25 years, both as a general contractor, electrical and solar installer.   She understands the hurdles one encounters in making your project a reality for both men and women, novice and experienced contractors.   Ms. Page-Nelson shares real life, boots-on-the ground training based on experience and expectations. She provides in-depth training  in the installation, inspecting, permitting, interconnecting activities  and clear working knowledge of solar project sales, development,  finance and implementation as well as all around construction industry training.   This combination of expertise and information provides a full range of exposure for the novice as well as the experienced solar installer seeking to increase their knowledge of the industry.
